For the month of April 2019 Jigsaw OOSH Beaumont Hills participated in Jump Rope for Heart – a fantastic physical activity and fundraising program by the Heart Foundation that has been running for over 35 years. When Miss Emily’s dad passed away from a heart attack at the beginning of the year she wanted to help raise awareness of heart disease as it doesn’t matter how old you are, if you are a boy or girl, an adult or a child heart disease can effect anyone at any time.

 

After contacting the Heart Foundation they suggested running Jump Rope for Heart at our centre. Jump Rope for Heart is an educational program for children that teaches them how to live a happy and healthy life and fun ways to keep fit. Not only was it and exciting program it also helps raise funds for vital heart research and education programs.  Every donation goes directly to the Heart Foundation and helps in the fight against heart disease, which is the number one killer of Australians. Not only did the children skip their little hearts out but we did so many wonderful and fun activities educating the Jigsaw OOSH with our own specially designed Jump Rope for Heart Program where we looked at the importance of being healthy and why exercise is so important for your heart.

 

Every donation goes directly to the Heart Foundation and it helps in the fight against heart disease, which is the number one killer of Australians.  With every dollar that was raised by the children and the Jigsaw OOSH educators: 45 cents goes into the fight against heart disease, including health programs and public education, 21 cents into life-saving research, 20 cents into raising additional funds and 13 cents into communications and administration

 

Along the way we had children, educators, brothers, sisters, mums and dads skip with our extremely special Heart Foundation skipping ropes. We learnt new tricks and skipping techniques but most importantly we learnt how important it is to live a healthy and happy life. Our goal was to raid $5000 but we exceeded that expectation and we raised $5416.32 for this wonderful and vital organization.
